Kent Scouts Big Cardboard Sleepout for Porchlight!

Last night, 1st St Lawrence Scout Group & 17th Ramsgate Scout Group joined forces for the Kent Scouts Big Cardboard Sleepout in aid of the homelessness charity Porchlight. We welcomed the Member of Parliament for South Thanet (Craig Mackinlay), the Mayor and Mayoress of Ramsgate (Cllr Trevor & Mandy Shonk) and Deputy Lieutenant of Kent (Clive Stevens). Well done to all the Beavers, Cubs & Scouts that took part, we have raised in excess of £1,000 towards this worthy cause!

A visit from a Swedish Explorer Scout!

Tonight, our Scouts welcomed Isa, an Explorer Scout from Sweden. Isa gave the Scouts a presentation about her Scouting experiences, and we shared some of our Campfire songs. We look forward to keeping in touch with Isa’s Scout Group in the near future.

Scouts go to Ferny Crofts for Summer Camp 2018!

Last week, our Scouts went to the Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre in the New Forest for a week of traditional Scout camping. The camp encouraged teamwork skills between the patrols as well as useful skills for life. Over the course of the week, the Scouts took part in various hikes, geocaching challenges, a raft building activity, a cooking competition, a trip to Brownsea Island (the birthplace of Scouting), multiple wide games, a campfire and many other exciting activities. Well done to all the Scouts for a successful camp!

Scouts Ross Wood Skills Camp 2018

From Friday 29th June 2018 – Sunday 30th June 2018, our Scouts took part in a traditional Scout skills camp at Ross Wood Scout Campsite. The aim of the skills camp was to teach the Scouts the fundamentals of traditional Scout camping including skills in cooking, pioneering, and teamwork.

Group Summer Fair 2018

Today was our annual Group Summer Fair for all our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and members of our local community. The day was filled with a wide variety of activities such as a coconut shy game, wet sponge stocks, cake competition, tombola, raffle and many other stalls. Overall, it was a fantastic event with great weather. We look forward to next year’s Group Summer Fair!
